ABOUT ME

In the ten year period between 2010 and 2020, I worked at one of the coolest places on the planet - The Large Hadron Collider (LHC). I was a part of the CMS experiment, one of four particles detectors at the LHC, and one of two general purpose experiments (along with ATLAS) that discovered the Higgs boson in 2012. In fact the topic of my Ph.D. thesis was the "Discovery of a Higgs Boson in the H to ZZ to 4 leptons channel". In 2016, I received the Mitsuyoshi Tanaka prize from the American Physics Society for the best Ph.D. thesis in experimental particle physics in all of North America.

After my Ph.D. I continued as a postdoc on the CMS experiment. I was a CERN Research Fellow from 2018-2020. I led a large team of physicists on various searches for new exotic particles forces. I performed some of the most sensitive searches for dark matter at the LHC. Dark matter is an invisible, inert and unknown form of matter that permeates the universe. There is a possibility that dark matter may get produced at the LHC (just as the Higgs boson got produced in the particle collisions). I spend 3 years looking for it, but alas, didn't find any sign of it in the data we collected.

More recently, since 2021, I have left the field of particle physics and started a new life as a Systems Research Engineer at Intel. I am doing some cool research in computing and cryptography.

ACADEMIC HISTORY

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Higgs Boson Physics

From 2010 to 2014, I participated in the search and eventual discovery of the Higgs boson at the CMS experiment at the LHC. I am now interested in studying its properties, in particular, some of its rare interactions. Does it decay to invisible particles ? Does it decay to muons ?

Dark Matter Searches at LHC

Most of the matter in the universe is dark and unknown. Can we produce it in a laboratory ? May be Dark Matter could pop out of the energetic proton-proton collisions at the LHC!! I have been trying to find that out since 2014.
